Team Training

How do I make the team?
Ideally, prospective team members will be competent up to jumping level and have some competition experience.
Tryouts and transport will be free.

Who coaches the team?
We have 2 instructors from The Northern Riding Centre; Heather and David who are fundamental to competition preparation. We are delighted to be working with them again this year. As well as this, we will also be visiting other equestrian centres for external coaching occasionally over the year. This is to allow us to gain experience away from our home yard.
Commitmnets and Cost ?
-
Wednesday afternoons - Team training will run alongside club lessons and focus on dressage disciplines for one hour. Free transport will leave university at 1pm and return around 5pm (Lessons run 2-3pm, 3-4pm).
-
Thursday evenings - Free transport will leave university at 7pm and return around 9pm. You will have 1 hour focusing on show jumping. It’s very important that riders attend these sessions to be successful at competitions.

Training is really fun and most importantly very rewarding. We have a great selection of horses and brilliant facilities. All competitions and transport will be free, there will be 4 team members plus 2 reserves as well as a development team. The A Team will compete within the BUCS league (North / North West) where there will be 3 competitions throughout the year followed by regional and national finals. We compete against the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University. Competitions consist of a dressage round followed by show jumping style round. All competitions will be on a Wednesday and worked around your university time table.
